Every woman, we believe has the right to have children at a time and with a family size of her choice. We empower women to exercise this choice through different contraceptive options and complete abortion treatment in our clinics and through our outreach teams.
We also collaborate with some public sector sites to enhance the quality of family planning service delivery.
India owns one of the largest and oldest national family planning programs in the world. Nevertheless, according to the National Family Health Survey 2019–2023, 9.4 percent of married women of reproductive ages in the country still do not have access to family planning.
Fifteen point six million abortions are conducted every year in India. Of these, 81% are medically assisted abortions. The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act of India is quite liberal, allowing the procedure until the end of 20 weeks of gestation, yet it is estimated that about 5% of 15.6 million abortions conducted annually are unsafe in the country. It is deprived of safe abortions due to reasons like social stigma; ignorance toward the legal availability of abortion; and scarcity of registered MTP providers providing the MTP treatments. Accessibility obstacles are further triggered by duplication with other acts, namely the Pre Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostics Techniques Act.
